Thanksgiving, 1976, San Francisco's Winterland: the Band performs its last concert after 16 years on the road. On stage some songs include guest artists from Ronnie Hawkins, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan to Ron Wood. Ron appeared with Ringo Starr, Clapton, Dylan and The Band on "I Shall Be Released". Offstage, the Band's five members, are interviewed focusing on their life on the road and their ending. This film, released in 1978, is shot in 35mm format, with an outstanding stage lightning which gives the picture a pristine look as opposed to all other previous rock films which were shot on 16mm |
